Which languages does the assistant answer in?
Kav's own assistant answers in Hebrew, Arabic, Russian and English. The platform also supports Amharic; each organization switches on the languages it chooses.
The short answer: the assistant on Kav's own site answers in Hebrew, Arabic, Russian and English. Right-to-left and left-to-right were treated as equals from the very first version — the interface flips direction with the language rather than bolting RTL on afterwards.
Each organization chooses its own languages
The platform itself supports five languages — Hebrew, Arabic, Russian, Amharic and English — but it doesn't switch all five on for everyone. Each organization publishes its own list, sets a default, and can let one language fall back to another for wording that hasn't been translated yet — Arabic falling back to Hebrew, for example. Turning a new language on in the Studio shows the translation cost before you confirm, because it's a recurring decision, not a free toggle.
Which language the answer comes back in
- If the customer picked a language in the widget, that's the language of the answer. Nothing overrules a choice the customer made.
- If they didn't, the assistant goes by the language the message is written in, not the browser's settings. A Hebrew question sent from a browser set to English gets a Hebrew answer.
A question in one language can find content in another
When a customer asks in a language your content isn't written in, the question is rewritten into your content's language for the search. An English question can therefore find the Hebrew article that answers it.
This assistant, on Kav's own site
The assistant on this site answers in Hebrew, Arabic, Russian or English; Amharic is not switched on here. Kav's own articles and knowledge base are written in Hebrew and English, and machine translations of them into Arabic and Russian are published automatically — so Hebrew and English are where its answers have the most original material to draw on.
