Does Kav support WhatsApp? What's the status?

Yes — WhatsApp support is built and implemented. It goes live for your organization once Meta approves your WhatsApp Business account. That's why this site lists WhatsApp as Implemented rather than Live: the part Kav builds is done, and the remaining step is the approval on Meta's side.

What is live today: the website widget and Telegram.

What you get on WhatsApp

  • The same answers as on your website. WhatsApp uses the same capabilities, rules and knowledge as every other channel — nothing is rebuilt for it.
  • WhatsApp's own format. Answers arrive as text with up to three reply buttons. The richer cards the website widget can draw aren't a WhatsApp format, so they aren't sent there.
  • The same queue for your team. A conversation that needs a person joins the same agent-desk queue as one from your website.

How it's switched on

  1. Register the surface in the Studio's Channels screen. This connects nothing yet — it creates the record the channel needs.
  2. Wait for the connection. The channel can only be enabled once the provider reports it as connected. That state mirrors what Meta reports, so nobody can tick it on early.
  3. Enable it. Disabling is always possible, instantly — during an incident is exactly when you need that switch.

Know WhatsApp's reply-window rule

Outside a limited window after the customer's last message, WhatsApp only allows a pre-approved template, not a free-text reply. On Messenger and Instagram the human-agent tag extends that window; on WhatsApp it does nothing. Templates go through their own review — Draft → Submitted → Approved or Rejected, and Paused if the quality rating later drops.
